THE GAME OF THE YEAR - Farming Simulator 25

Updated: Oct 5

Yes, I know you may think the title is a bit of an exaggeration, especially considering the game hasn't even been released yet, however, I'll go through some of the NEW items being added to this year's Farming Simulator that will make it by far, the best Farming Simulator ever.

A couple of things to note at first. Farming Simulator 25 will be releasing November 12th, 2024. The game is currently available for pre-order @ this link: https://www.farming-simulator.com/buy-now.php?platform=pcdigital&code=SLEAKEST

Alright, let's get into some of the incredible new features coming to Farming Simulator 25. First, you can't talk about FS25 without mentioning RICE! One of the new crops that was announced is rice. Now, it wouldn't be that big of a deal if it was planted and harvested the same way as say wheat or barley is. However, with the addition of Asian Rice, we now can plant rice and harvest rice in rice patties that are filled with water. This is the first time, that Giants Software, the creator of Farming Simulator, has integrated water into the base game. With this comes new water deformation when driving or even walking through the water. As I was watching the announcement of this new crop in the game, and saw the new water integration with the rice patties, an instant thought came to my mind, Cranberries! I wouldn't at all be surprised if Giants Software releases a DLC a little later on that introduces Cranberries. If you are not familiar with Cranberries and how they grow, let me explain a little. They need a bed, like a rice pattie, otherwise known as a "BOG" to grow. They are planted in the ground with the bog is dry, and when the cranberries are ready to harvest, you flood the bog with water and all the berries float to the top to be harvested. Now I know this may be a long stretch but I can easily see this with the new water integration for rice.

The second feature that really stood out to me, is the new Giants engine that will be used for FS25. Giants will be going from Giants Engine 9, which was used for FS19 & FS22, and will be upgrading to Giants Engine 10. Now these numbers may not mean anything to you, but basically can be summed up as a quality of life improvement ALL AROUND. You always want the best possible visuals in Farming Simulator, after all, it's a simulator of real life, the better and more realistic the game quality, the better the simulator is. Some of the noticeable changes include the enhanced Fog, which will have different densities, and display at different heights throughout the year & times of day. Another key thing to note is that you will be able to see sun rays now. The sun will reflect off of objects much more realistically and display rays or beams of light down. This is going to drastically impact how the mornings & evenings look in the game. They also changed the wind system. The wind will blow much more realistically and more dynamically. Before, it was just a simple system where every crop/blade of grass would blow in the same direction, at the same speed. Now, a taller weed may blow faster and in a slightly different direction than a shorter crop or grass blade would. This will be easily noticeable the more you play the game.

The last item I want to touch on, that will bring an entirely new feel to the game is ground deformation. When I saw the announcement for this, I was ecstatic. We will finally have tire tracks, not just paint, in the ground. Since the start of Farming Simulator, when you left tire tracks, it was simply painted on the ground. Now you can imagine that this doesn't add to a super realistic experience. Having ground deformations will also give you a clear line of where you drove, which is especially helpful when spraying or planting and you cant see where your last pass was on the field.

There is so much that Giants Software is adding to Farming Simulator 25 and I highly recommend you at least check it out, and see what your thoughts are. I know the mod support is going to be even better than Farming Simulator 22, which is incredibly exciting considering all the mods I use daily. I will post a link to my YouTube channel below in which I made a few videos explaining this in more detail!
